Service

Service plays a critical role in sustaining our Portland SAA fellowship’s ability to carry our message to the sex addict who still suffers. While sponsorship or serving as an elected, trusted servant at the meeting or Intergroup level are some of the more easily recognizable service positions in our fellowship, there are many other service needs too. In fact, just showing up to a meeting is being of service.

Below are some of the service needs in the Portland/Vancouver area, some of which do not require significant effort or an on-going commitment.

Current Service Opportunities

  • Volunteers are needed for the Portland SAA information phone line. Please call (346) 808-0722 or email recovery@portlandsaa.org to find out how you can be of service.
  • The Friday Night Meeting (6:30 – 7:45 p.m.) is currently suffering from low attendance and does not have a Secretary to lead the meeting. This meeting occurs via phone/Zoom. All sex addicts can be of service and help make this a more viable meeting by simply showing up. Anyone who might be interested in filling or sharing the Secretary position is encouraged to attend the meeting and share their interest.
  • The Recover Together/Recuperamos Juntos meeting on Mondays (7:00 – 8:00 p.m.) has been experiencing low attendance. This meeting occurs in-person at First Congregational Church, 494 E Main St, in downtown Hillsboro. All sex addicts can be of service and help make this a more viable meeting by simply showing up.
  • The in-person version of the Wednesday Evening Beaverton meeting (6:30 – 7:45 p.m.) has been experiencing low attendance. This meeting occurs in-person at Unity of Beaverton Church, 12650 SW 5th St (at Angel), in Beaverton. All sex addicts can be of service and help make this a more viable meeting by simply showing up.
  • The Friday Late Night Meeting (10:00 – 11:00 p.m.) is holding its first meeting on March 8. This unique, late hour meeting occurs via phone/Zoom. All sex addicts can be of service and help make this new meeting grow by simply showing up.
  • Everyone needs a sponsor! Intergroup offers a Sponsor Connector that provides a list of local people available to sponsor or to discuss sponsorship. Sponsors can add, update or remove their information on the editable document, which is encouraged! To access the document or for questions, please send an email to Lemoi50@gmail.com.
  • Intergroup is encouraging meetings to set up Newcomer Assistant Teams. For more information and support, please contact our Public Information coordinator, Eric B. at mr_ericwbrown@yahoo.com.
  • Know someone with some experience, strength, and hope to share? We’re looking for Second Saturday speakers. Please reach out to Lee A. at turtlewhosings@hotmail.com.

If you would like to add an item to this list, or update an existing item, please reach out to Jerry O. at jjoelerich@gmail.com.
